I actually thought August Alsina’s last album ‘This Thing Called Life‘ was not that bad… Unfortunately, it didn’t get the exposure that his first album got, putting him in this position where it feels like he hasn’t been out for a while… Well he returns with this new track called ‘Drugs’, that sorta feels like a return to the scene after a few years out.
Is there a place in hip hop for R&B singers like August Alsina anymore? I mean LITERALLY everyone sings nowadays… I do not deny that his vocals are top notch, but something about that passionate music from a young artist sounds a bit outdated to me now. For people like me that still appreciate it, August has made a song in which he spills his guts about his woman being a drug to him over this mellow/soothing sound.
