Kehlani & Normani Help Jessie Reyez Revamp Her “Body Count” Hit (Review & Stream)

As a young black male, I hid under the bed listening to this track.

I don’t know if you know this, but I absolutely love Jessie Reyez! In my humbling opinion, she’s the pop version of SZA, creating gems that revolve around quirkiness and traditionally unlady-like values. In “Body Count,” she talks about putting a dude to shame that thinks they have a body count that is more extensive than hers, and she does it in a way that is almost gospel-like. As usual, the words she delivers are *ahem ahem* as unapologetic as it gets, which probably prompted both Kehlani and Normani to want in on this remix. Well they got their chance to hop on it, and as expected, the two singers give the track another layer of bluntness. There’s nothing more intimidating than a blunt black women!
