The Ratings Game Presents: NFL Week 1 Predictions!

Ladies and gentlemen, the NFL is back this Thursday! That means it’s time to bring out the nachos and ignore everyone that needs to be ignored. It also means it’s time to win fantasy leagues and gambling money, and trust me, I got your help below!

TOP 5 FANTASY PICKS

5. EZEKIEL ELLIOT VS. CAROLINA

Ezekiel Elliot is the hardest runner on this list, and for that reason alone, I can see him putting up big numbers this year. With the Cowboys #1 WR option gone (Dez Bryant), look for the Boys’ offense to revolve around the rugged looking running back quite a bit. In their first game against the Carolina Panthers, I expect a game uglier than Esther, and though God may not like ugly, Ezekiel does.

4. LEONARD FOURNETTE VS. NY GIANTS

With all your fantasy drafts and s**t, I didn’t see a single person pick Leonard Fournette in their top 5. I guess that means he’s sneaky good, right? Because, behind his running (Mostly), the Jaguars were first in the league in rushing yards per game. You know where the Giants ranked in rush defense last year? 26th. I think you should pick up Leonard this week.

3. ANTONIO BROWN VS. CLEVELAND

With Leveon Bell likely to be sidelined for this game, I expect Antonio Brown to pick up some of his slack. His targets should be pretty high, and against a Cleveland Browns team that I see being a lot more competitive this year, I expect him to be needed in some pretty high octane situations. (BTW, against Cleveland in his last four outings, he’s averaging 146 yards with 42 catches and 52 targets)

2. DAVID JOHNSON VS. WASHINGTON

I love David Johnson not only for this game, but for the full season (If he can stay healthy)! He’s a duel threat, and is more than capable of putting up over 180 totals yards on a good day. Look for him to be a beast these first couple of weeks, especially considering that he is an elite running back that has a chip on his shoulder still and will probably want to prove his worth until we put respect on his name. For this week, against the Redskins at home, I see him playing the fragile Sam Bradford’s safety blanket.

1. ALVIN KAMARA VS. TAMPA BAY

There is several reasons to believe Alvin Kamara will excel this week: For one, he’s going against the lowly Buccaneers who do not have their starting quarterback due to suspension, and secondly, he will share majority of the running back duties due to his starting running back being suspended himself (Correct, suspensions will play a big part in fantasy this week). I predict a blowout by the Saints at home, and Kamara having 2-3 total touchdowns and over 150 yards in total offense.

SLEEPER PICK. CHRISTIAN MCCAFFREY

Under Norv Turner, I expect Christian McCaffrey to get plenty of touches this year as Cam’s safety blanket, mainly because Carolina will want to limit both the amount of play-making opportunities and big hits Cam takes this year. I can see Christian getting some receiving touchdowns vs. Dallas, a team that gave up 28 receiving touchdowns despite ranking 12th in receiving yards given up (Christian will get a bunch of third down short pass looks).
