The Gary Douglas Band Touches The Soul On “Nothing Ever Goes As Planned” (Review & Stream)

The Gary Douglas Band reminds us how refreshing the truth can sound!

The root of “Nothing Ever Goes As Planned” is gentle, but everything else around it feels grungy. With the title of the song giving off this tough love feel, Gary Dougals tells it how it is for the full three minute duration of it, touching on the war currently going on in the streets and how surviving it has become harder and harder. I love how Gary touches on racial tension and the working class on his verses, never holding a single sentiment back in the process.

Listeners, what you will really love about this song is the seesaw of emotions you get from both Gary and the instrumentalists throughout, as they each do a great job of highlighting emotions such as pain, hope and relentlessness all through a wide range of vocals and instrumentation. Matter of fact, if you don’t get more and more goosebumps while this song plays on, you may not be human.

This song is wonderful in every kind of way. Stay tuned for its official release, and make sure you follow Gary Douglas’ movements using the links below!
