Sparkle Takes Aim At R. Kelly In “We Are Ready” (Review & Stream)

It’s the world against R. Kelly right now, and I am all the way fine with that.

As you may know by now, R. Kelly is being dragged in a new television special on Lifetime called “Surviving R. Kelly.” One of the most important players on the series is Sparkle — A former understudy of the R&B legend from back in the day. In “We Are Ready,” she talks about all the pain and trauma that comes with being in an abusive situation, and how these days, she feels solace in finally being heard. I love how the song plays like an anthem, while also featuring lyrics that are fiery and direct.

R. Kelly is no longer welcome at any black barbecue around the world.
