Soulja Boy Releases “Crank Dat Big Drako” (Review & Stream)

Is this not a sign of someone who is trying to relive their expired 15 minutes of fame?

So here’s the deal: Soulja Boy’s rapping skills have been below average for as long as I can remember, but when it comes to production, he’s pretty solid! In “Crank Dat Big Drako,” the Compton rapper spits some sloppy/uncoordinated/off-kilter bars over this horn-heavy instrumental that I actually find to be fire. Does it save the song from ending up in hip-hop purgatory? No, however, it does tell me that Soulja Boy’s potential as a solid beat-maker is still there.
