Big Sean Gets Deep In “Single Again”

Big Sean’s approach to break-ups has drastically eased up.

What makes Big Sean such a dope rapper is that he’s able to open up in ways that other rappers simply don’t. In “Single Again,” the Detroit native opens up quite a bit, as he talks about the importance of being in a better mental state so he can end up with someone that is more productive for him in the long run. Musically, I love how this song straddles the line between melodic and raw rap, while content-wise, I love how it straddles the line between personable and commercial-sounding. I also love how featured guests Jhene and Ty Dolla $ign help add some soul to the track with their brief/low-key contributions.

We all need to approach love the way Big Sean approaches it on this song.
