Kanye West & Sunday Service Choir bless us with the beautifully-crafted “Jesus Is Born.”
Sunshine is absolutely beautiful! Though the song takes elements of Stevie Wonder’s Sunshine Of My life hit from back in the day, it still shines with its own unique energy, punch, and message.
I feel like every single song from at least 30 years ago would sound great if it was remade by a choir.
4. ULTRALIGHT BEAM
2017’s version of Ultralight Beam is a gospel song; the version of Ultralight Beam that is on this album is a gospel song on holy crack!
In all seriousness, my soul feels replenished after listening to Ultralight Beam. I love the song’s overly-dramatic nature, in addition to its dough-rising-like singing structure.
If you don’t close your eyes while you listen to Ultralight Beam, we can’t be friends.
3. FOLLOW ME – FAITH
At the beginning of Follow Me – Faith, you get a sound that is so serene, you might want to hear it while you are taking a number two. By the end of Follow Me – Faith, you’ll feel like the song went on a diarrhea journey with you.
Follow Me – Faith eventually turns into a revamped version of Kanye West’s Fade hit from his Life Of Pablo album. In my opinion, this flipped version of the track makes the song reach its full potential (I’ve always felt like Fade should’ve had more soul and pizazz).
I love how Weak turns an already dramatic song into something that is even more dramatic.
The singers in Weak show great confidence in their love for our LORD and savior, but at the same time, this level of vulnerability that is glaring. I love that!
1. FATHER STRETCH
While the lyrics you hear on Father Stretch aren’t brash at all, the energy you get on the track is impeccable! (The instrumental that powers Father Stretch is hard-hitting, while the singing on it is wild and free)

I can go on for days about how phony this reborn version of Kanye West feels, but I won’t, mainly because I think Jesus is Born is a very good gospel album!
Jesus Is Born is well-crafted, creative, energetic, powerful, replenishing, and authentically gospel. Is the album for everyone? No, but if you call yourself a musical savant, you have to at least appreciate it.
