Dave East Drops “Zombies (EastMix)”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Dave East delivers raw, thought-provoking bars over The Cranberries’ iconic “Zombies” beat (Yes, you read that correctly).

Dave East is a talented rapper who, in my opinion, doesn’t get the marketing attention he deserves. Today, the Harlem artist dropped “Zombies (EastMix),” a track that suggests he’s done worrying about meeting anyone’s expectations.

In “Zombies (EastMix),” Dave East reflects on his tough rise to success and the corruption within the government for about a minute. The rest of the track features the powerful, rebellious vocals from The Cranberries’ original “Zombies,” creating an intriguing blend of East’s hard-hitting bars and the song’s iconic melody. Please don’t ask me how this track came together or why it exists.

Listen to the very bizarre “Zombies (EastMix)” below.
