Evan Alterton is a visual artist and musician from Michigan who decided to form Melodic Canvas in 2016. The reason you should care about this one-man-band is that the music Evan makes will remind you of the music that rock greats such as Nirvana, Pink Floyd, and My Morning Jacket makes. “Pretentious Intentions,” Melodic Canvas’ latest single, is one of the most riveting rock tracks you will hear in your life.
“Pretentious Intentions” boasts guitar riffs that will make you feel alive, a drum pattern that will make you bop your head violently, tons of bass, and a vocal performance that I am convinced has the directions to both my heart and soul. As for lyrically, Evan does a magnificent job of sounding like an individual that is content with finding out his truths and battling his demons on his own in the song.
Personally, I love how masterfully this song balances dark vibes with sunny vibes. I also love how the song’s title rolls off my tongue (It legitimately feels good saying “Pretentious Intentions” over and over again).
