“Tears” is a touching track that feels purely genuine and straight from the heart.

Toronto-based singer and songwriter Malaika Khadijaa is an indie R&B artist who draws most of her musical inspiration from her East African and Caribbean roots as well as artists like Miriam Makeba, Cleo soul, and Etta James. A true creative, Malaika is also a freelance Photographer, a Graphic Designer, and the co-founder of LUMINARY, an organization dedicated to supporting young emerging artists. Malaika’s latest release is the R&B/Soul-inspired “Tears.”

According to Malaika, “Tears” is about “protecting those around you who suffer from depression.” Her raw emotion pours out in a way that’s deeply touching and moving for anyone that’s experienced mental health struggles. Additionally, the soft and calming notes that surround the soulful and smooth vocals blend together nicely, producing a journey that feels almost surreal due to its soothingly dreamy harmonies.
