21 Savage – Spiral EP (Review)

21 Savage aligns himself with evil in “Spiral EP.”

2. EMERGENCY

21 Savage, Young Thug, and Gunna join forces for “Emergency.”

Right now, 21 Savage, Young Thug, and Gunna are probably the biggest rappers out of Atlanta. With that being said, what I love about them is that they still sound trill as f**k in their music. In “Emergency,” a song that features the three, you get lyrics that promote violence, guns, adultery, and more. While I think Gunna is the star of the song (He sets the tone with his sly deliveries), I like how 21 Savage adds some grit to it, while Young Thug adds some mad scientist vibes to it.

1. SPIRAL

“Spiral” is the theme song for the upcoming “Spiral: From The Book Of Saw” movie.

21 Savage doesn’t sound scary on “Spiral;” he sounds nonchalant. Remember, though, some of the scariest boogeymen are laidback (Think about how laidback Mike Myers is). Anywho, the song features this demented uptempo beat that 21 Savage sounds unfazed by. Seriously, throughout his verses, the Atlanta rapper comes across as someone that kills folks during his lunch breaks. Thankfully, 21 rides the song’s beat really well and hits us with a hook that is action-packed enough to move the needle.

There’s nothing to see here…

These days, 21 Savage rarely misses… With that being said, I wouldn’t call Spiral EP a miss, but a turnover. The EP features four tracks; the ghoulish “Spiral,” the somewhat forgettable “You Ain’t Hard” featuring Young Nudy, the generic banger that is “Down Bad,” and the disappointing “Emergency” with Young Thug and Gunna. If I were to guess, this EP was unplanned and rushed (Oh well).
