I think Syd is an unbelievable musician. She’s also a great representative for lesbian black women. In Syd’s latest single, “Fast Car,” she blesses us with vocals that are extremely smooth and talks about love in a way that is blunt, honest, and stimulating.

Do you know what’s interesting? Syd’s “Fast Car” sounds very similar to The Dream’s “Fast Car” (Both songs boast 80s pop vibes and talk about serious love-making). In Syd’s version of the song, she also plugs in a guitar solo that is hella amazing and vocals that are beyond intoxicating.

The music video to “Fast Car” is adorable, steamy, and refreshingly awkward.
