HEARTBREAKER

Mark Imperial

RGM RATING (⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️)

A captivating single that’s filled with infectious energy and nostalgic pop-punk vibes.

Sydney, Australia-based singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, Mark Imperial, is a rising pop-rock artist who was raised in the Philippines. The 23-year-old crafts attention-grabbing music with a unique style that leaves a lasting impression. His long-standing passion for music comes from a combination of factors, including personal experiences. On September 21st (which also happens to be his birthday), Mark Imperial released his debut single “HEARTBREAKER.”

According to Mark Imperial, his freshman release was inspired by his “vision to create a ‘remedy’ for brokenhearted people.” Imperial’s influences (such as 5 Seconds of Summer, Blink-182, and Green Day) are definitely present in “HEARTBREAKER,” though the song itself has plenty of contemporary elements to keep things feeling wonderfully fresh. “HEARTBREAKER” was originally meant to exude a “sad, salty-emo vibe,” however, the track’s overall uplifting sense is more rooted in pop-punk than emo. In addition to its nostalgic vibes, the single also offers up an uplifting message with its “energetic and witty portrayal of being heartbroken.” Fans of throwback late ’90s/ 00s pop-punk will love rocking out to “HEARTBREAKER.”
