Summer Walker & JT Link Up For “Ex For A Reason”

Ex For A Reason

Summer Walker & JT

RGM RATING (????)

I love me some Summer Walker, but she may have to go back to the drawing board after this release.

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: Out of all of the poppin’ female R&B singers in the game right now, Summer Walker is my favorite. I love the way that she lets her heart bleed in her music, caring less about sounding perfect, mature, or even sane. With that being said, I am really looking forward to Summer’s sophomore album. After listening to “Ex For A Reason,” I am now looking forward to her third album more than her second one.

I feel like Summer Walker puts up an unenthusiastic vocal performance and dishes out lyrics that are just a little too childish for me in “Ex For A Reason.” I’m also not feeling the song’s watered-down, uptempo 2000s-Esque R&B beat. I will say this, though: JT’s confrontational verse does make things a little better.

Don’t worry, guys, Summer’s album will be fantastic!
