The Kaleidoscope Kid

RGM RATING (??????????)

An alternative gem with summery vibes and psychedelic tunes.

Phoenix, Arizona-based musical creative, Josh Murphy, also known as The Kaleidoscope Kid, is an emerging singer-songwriter. Kid combines rock and psychedelic influences to create a unique sound. His moniker similarly reflects his style by “blending psychedelic strings with hip-hop laced percussion into a genre-bending musical moment.” Additionally, the artist takes inspiration from artists such as Beck, Sublime, Pink Floyd, Bob Marley, and Blink-182. TKK’s music can be found on Spotify and YouTube to his own website. The Kaleidoscope Kid’s latest release is the alternative single “Watermelon Kisses.” The song also has an accompanying music video.

While it offers psychedelic influences, “Watermelon Kisses” is full of breezy, sun-soaked sounds. Additionally, the song is about falling in love; not necessarily a topic someone would expect from this genre. Lyrics like “Her sugar is my weakness. She’s the sweetest honey bee” and “A sun wild child with a smile so playful. Spun by the hands of time to move angles” are full of these heartwarming declarations. Kid explores the ideal life with his love in that perfect sense of bliss. It is wonderfully romantic, full of chords that make listeners relax and dream about a special love. These dreamy, strange moments make this the perfect song for drifting off into a sweet, summery daydream. So, stream The Kaleidoscope Kid’s “Watermelon Kisses” for that one-of-a-kind romance dream.
