Benny The Butcher is brave as hell for spitting bars over the “We Cry Together” beat (How do you even do that?).
Buffalo was in the news for all of the wrong reasons a month ago. On May 14th, a racist coward shot up a Tops Supermarket, killing a bunch of innocent people inside. While there is a lot of talk about gun reform going on, we all know how this story is going to end: Our politicians aren’t going to do s**t. Today, Buffalo native, Benny The Butcher, decided to pay homage to all of the lost lives from the supermarket incident in “Welcome To The States.”
Why didn’t I realize how Griselda-Esque the “We Cry Together” beat sounds until today? I hate the fact that we get to hear Benny spit bars over it under these circumstances. Whatever the case may be, “Welcome to the States” is a hard-hitting banger that features impactful bars that call out racists, oppressors, crooked politicians, and more. Though Benny sounds cool as hell from start to finish, his words do cut like the sharpest knife on this planet.
