Khamari
An R&B single that explores relationship woes.
Los Angeles-based musical creative, Khamari, is a rising songwriter, producer, and multi-instrumentalist. As a result of a varied childhood, Khamari grew up playing various instruments and is skilled as a pianist and guitarist. He has even studied at the Berklee School of Music. During an interview, the artist stated that some of his biggest influences in songwriting are artists from other decades; these include Stevie Wonder, Marvin Gaye, Joni Mitchell, and Bill Withers. By starting with a groovy backdrop of soulful beats, we’re left with something more than just a message; we also get to see a show of talent. “Tell Me” is soothing enough to work with an intimate romantic reminisce. Lyrics like “It’s weighing on my mind, and it ain’t healthy / If your heart’s someone else’s, baby would you tell me?” and “Hard enough to reach you / Feels like I’m competing / Ooh, but who” hear the artist reflect on his relationship anxieties. Clearly, relationships mean a lot to Khamari, and he doesn’t want to risk screwing things up. With soft, sensual vocals and a striking guitar solo, Khamari gifts a vibrant R&B gem that’s overflowing with passion and skill.
