French Montana has officially entered the Jersey club world.
Throughout French Montana’s illustrious career, he has dabbled in many different subgenres. To be more specific, I’ve heard him spit bars over everything from drill to Afropop to pop to boom-bap beats. In French’s latest single, “RATATAAAA,” he does work over a Jersey club beat.

“RATATAAAA” is a heart-pumping banger that I feel never fully gets started. In the song, French Montana and 2Rare do some bragging, threaten to push wigs back, and talk about dancing with good-looking/athletic women. While I am a major fan of how the two rappers switch between sounding like hypemen and aggressive rappers, I can just never get with how unorthodox jersey club songs tend to sound (I guess I’m an old fart).
