The folks that took XXXTENTACION’s life really f**ked up the music industry. In my opinion, the Florida rapper was the definition of an artist that had endless potential. Right when he started buzzing, he tragically lost his life. Fortunately, since it seems he loved music, X left us with a bunch of unreleased recordings. Yesterday, a new single from him called “let’s pretend we’re numb” hit streaming services.

In “let’s pretend we’re numb,” XXXTENTACION brings out his aggressive side. Over this dreamy hip-hop beat, he ferociously straddles the thin line between competitive and vulnerable when it comes to relationships. Though we didn’t get to hear X rap a lot in the past, in this song, that’s all he does.
