OK, so this kind of came out of nowhere… None of my plugs informed me that DJ Khaled would drop an album this year, so I don’t know where this “Supposed To Be Loved” single came from. I’m not complaining, though, especially considering that it’s the summertime, and we need more bops to get lost in.
“Supposed To Be Loved” has a very interesting sound. To begin with, the song is driven by an uptempo, old-school beat that exudes an almost sugary-sweet vibe, sampling Michael Jackson’s iconic “PYT” hit. Layered over this backdrop, we experience a fusion of gritty rap deliveries, impassioned crooning, romantic verses, and a touch of cockiness from featured guests Future, Lil Uzi Vert, and Lil Baby. Honestly, the song’s pacing feels a bit awkward, with the artists occasionally overlapping and stumbling over each other’s contributions. Additionally, the audio quality appears slightly off. The best is supposed to be better than this, Khaled!
