Rod Wave Drops The Emotional “Come See Me”

We may have to accept that Rod Wave may never be happy.

Rod Wave is my plug for emotional hip-hop records. Walahi, a few tracks he’s released almost brought me to tears. Thankfully, success hasn’t changed Rod’s approach to making music; he still makes a lot of sad-ass songs. On September 15th, the “Street Runner” artist will release a new album called Nostalgia. The latest single from it is “Come See Me.”

Rod Wave begins “Come See Me” with a captivating twist, as he opens with the intriguing words: “My momma told me to make it work, But Usher told me to let it burn, I used to see you call my phone and get butterflies, These days, my stomach turns.” What’s particularly fascinating about this song is that he primarily adopts a rap style, a departure from his more recent work. However, fans of Rod Wave need not worry, as he showcases his impressive singing abilities in the chorus. In the end, “Come See Me” emerges as a dynamic emotional track demonstrating the Florida rapper’s versatility, serving as a testament to his ability to navigate different styles and deliver heartfelt music.

Will we get more rap songs like “Come See Me” on Rod Wave’s forthcoming album, Nostalgia, or will Rod Wave revert back to his sappy singing ways? Find out next time on Ratings Game Music!
