Timbaland Calls On Anna Margo For “My Way”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Timbaland might have found his next Secretariat in Anna Margo.

You had to be there when Timbaland, Missy Elliott, Magoo, Aaliyah, and Ginuwine were on top of the world. At the time, they were making music that was fun, ahead of its time, and just plain old different. Though Timbaland has been very scarce with the releases these past couple of years, he has been slightly active as of late. A few weeks ago, he dropped a new single with Justin Timberlake and Nelly Furtado called “Keep Going Up.” Today, he returned to the scene with yet another single: “My Way” with Anna Margo.

Honestly, tears almost came to my eyes listening to this s**t (I hope you guys realize that I am exaggerating when I say that most of the time). Anna Margo’s performance in “My Way” gives me Aaliyah vibes to the max (I mean, s**t, she’s even dressed like Aaliyah in the artwork). Over this very Timbaland-esque beat, she slyly sings about having the upper hand over a dude who seems to be thirstier than Travis Hunter after playing 95 snaps in a Colorado football game. But I want to emphasize this: It’s the Timbaland-esque beat, with its quirky, random effects and hard-hitting elements, that steals the show here. I’ve never heard a producer like this before.

Give “My Way” a shot below.
