We break down the top 5 Nicki Minaj albums.
5. The Pinkprint (2014)

Every artist possesses that one solid album that tends to slip from public consciousness. In the case of Nicki Minaj, “The Pinkprint” fits this description perfectly.
Among all of Nicki Minaj’s album releases, The Pinkprint stands out to me as her most vulnerable work. Throughout the album, she candidly explores her relationships, engages in introspection, and shares aspects of her life journey. Although I appreciate the balance she strikes between singing and rapping, the album doesn’t feature as many tracks with catchy hooks or bombastic raps. Instead, it feels like a comprehensive musical diary, allowing listeners an intimate glimpse into her personal experiences.
While I don’t consider The Pinkprint to be Nicki Minaj’s best album, I can’t deny that its artwork is undeniably her finest.
Favorite Tracks: “Feeling Myself,” “Pills N Potions” & “Anaconda.”
4. Pink Friday: Roman Reloaded (2011)

This is probably Nicki Minaj’s most gimmicky album.
This album didn’t resonate with me. The rap tracks seemed forced, and the pop ones felt a little too poppy. Notably, songs like “Automobile” and “Starships” sound like AI-generated pop songs. On the flip side, the rap tracks, including “Roman Reloaded,” were unenjoyably gritty. Despite my dissatisfaction with this album, I believe Nicki Minaj gleaned valuable insights from it, learning what to steer clear of in her subsequent projects, ultimately delivering more gratifying works.
This album edges out The Pinkprint because it’s a little more memorable. It’s definitely not boring, just a little on the cheesy side.
Favorite Tracks: “Marilyn Monroe,” “Starships,” & “Beez In Da Trap.”
3. Beam Me Up Scotty (2009)
Alright, we might be bending the rules a bit here. “Beam Me Up Scotty” is technically a mixtape, but since Nicki Minaj has only four official albums, we thought it deserved a spot on this list.
When I first heard Beam Me Up Scotty, I sensed the birth of a star. While Nicki Minaj appeared relatively inexperienced on the mixtape, her fearless approach to popular beats of that era, her emergence as the rightful successor to Wayne, and her wealth of lyrical prowess left a lasting impact. I believe Nicki Minaj sounds completely unrestrained on this project, showing no inclination to cater to a pop audience. In fact, the mixtape offers glimpses into her roots and origin, allowing listeners to connect with her rise to fame.
Did you even know Nicki Minaj had ties with Gucci Mane back in the day? He’s on like four songs on this mixtape.
Favorite Tracks: “I Get Crazy,” “Best I Ever Had” & “Still I Rise.”
2. Pink Friday (2010)

Not enough people mention how good of a debut album “Pink Friday” is.
Before Nicki Minaj released her debut album, Pink Friday, the expectations were monumental. This might explain the presence of outstanding guest appearances throughout the album. From Eminem to Rihanna, Drake to Kanye West, a star-studded lineup contributed to the project. What’s noteworthy is Nicki’s ability to shine alongside these heavyweights, never sounding overshadowed. Beyond that, she showcased her creativity, versatility, and opportunistic approach. Pink Friday stands out as an album that you can play from start to finish, highlighting Nicki’s star power.
Favorite Tracks: “Moment 4 Life,” “Did It On’em,” and “Save Me.”
1. Queen (2018)

Nicki Minaj kicked ass and took names throughout “Queen.”
In Queen, Nicki Minaj rises to the challenge of delivering an album filled with her most robust and gritty raps. Throughout the album, she unleashes some of her most intense bars, spitting over some of the toughest beats I’ve heard her tackle. While the album includes a couple of massive commercial hits like “Bed” featuring Ariana Grande and “FEFE” with 6ix9ine, its primary focus is on showcasing Nicki’s prowess and asserting her position as one of the best rappers ever.
This is the album where we get the most polished version of Nicki Minaj.
Favorite Tracks: “Chun Li,” “Good Form,” “Bed,” and “Rich Flex.”
