Lil Yachty Gets Really Gritty In “Gimmie Da Lite”

Rating: 3 out of 5.

Am I the only one who was hoping for Lil Yachty to do a remake of Sean Paul’s “Gimmie The Light” hit here?

In the realm of hip-hop MVPs, Lil Yachty is currently leading the pack. Over the past 12 months, he has released an outstanding album, collaborated with heavyweights like J. Cole and Drake, and consistently dropped some impressive singles. And it appears that Yachty isn’t slowing down. On Friday, he unveiled a new single with Southside titled “Gimmie Da Lite.”

“Gimmie Da Lite” is harder than figuring out how to walk after taking ‘shrooms. The track is driven by this mean, bass-booming beat by Southside that will definitely want to make you elbow folks in a club. Over it, Lil Yachty spits tough-ass bars about his homies that are locked up, his homies that are ready for smoke, and his chick that is a ‘real geeker.’ The style he raps with is as unorthodox as it gets, but once you understand it, you’ll definitely f**k with it.

Lil Yachty said he thinks he’s better than most of the rappers in the game today. Do you believe that? Let us know in the comments below.
