Killer Mike Releases Reggae Version Of “Run” With Damian “Jr. Gong” Marley

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This version of “Run” sounds really damn good.

There’s a really good chance that Killer Mike will win a Grammy for his Michael album. If he does, I will have zero problems with that. The project boasts a bunch of high-quality, meaningful hip-hop records. It also has some really good guest appearances and artwork that is simple but fire. One of the highlights from the album is the song “Run” with Young Thug. This past Friday, Killer Mike dropped a remix to “Run” with Damian Marley.

This version of “Run” might just be the best one. In it, we get this rugged reggae beat that miraculously fits with Killer Mike’s unchanged flows and powerful lyrics about his come-up and youthful days (How the f**k was he able to pull this off?). As for Damian Marley, his voice alone solidifies this song’s reggae feel, while at the same time, he hits us with feverish flows that I love and lyrics that will make you have sympathy for those who are trying to get it out of the mud. Overall, I think this version of “Run” is stronger than Zion.

Killer Mike can literally do no wrong.
