J.I. the Prince of N.Y Spills His Heart Out In “Miss You Tonight”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

J.I. The Prince of N.Y is one of the most underrated rappers from New York City. He distinguishes himself in a landscape filled with rappers embracing heavy melodies by combining them with poetic lyrics.

Although J.I.’s most popular year was 2019 with projects like Hood Life Krisis, Vol. 1 and singles like “Need Me,” he has released a series of sneakily good singles this year, including “It’s Officially Done” and “Black Roses.” J.I.’s most recent single, “Miss You Tonight,” brings his year to a strong close.

J.I. does what he does best in “Miss You Tonight,” and that is to give us a heartfelt performance. Over this soulful, booming beat that could lowkey f**k your speakers up, the New Yorker uses emotional, melodic raps to speak on the snakes snaking, the good girls good girling, the bad girls bad girling, and everything in between. Though the song has a somber feel, there’s definitely some grittiness to J.I.’s raps.

I predict J.I. will have a big 2024.
