That Mexican OT Drops Ferocious Bars In “02.02.09”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Doesn’t it feel like Texas rappers are lowkey legends? Like, we all know who Scarface is, but it took his Tiny Desk performance for us to really appreciate what he has done for hip-hop culture. That said, I am telling you right now, if you aren’t hip to That Mexican OT, you are really missing out. The 24-year-old Bay City, Texas native has been serving more hits than Katt Williams.

If you only have a few minutes to spare, and you want to know all you need to know about That Mexican OT, I recommend you listen to “Johnny Dang” by him. In the song, he establishes his will by rapping hard as hell and letting the world know about his unapologetic approach to life. To open up 2024, TMO has more heat for us: A new single called “02.02.99.”

“02.02.99” is harder than trying to get Katt Williams to answer one of your questions in an interview. First and foremost, the song is powered by this hard-hitting, dark beat that I know has been to jail before. Just like he does in his other songs, he meets the beat at the rim with tongue-twisting flows, DaBaby-like charisma, and tons of animation. He also keeps the reckless lyrics coming, as he talks about everything from f**king his opps’ sisters to carrying toolies. OT might just be the most electrifying n***a in hip-hop right now.

Give “02.02.99” a shot below.
