Hope Raney Says She’s “Not The One”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Here at RGM, we have a great appreciation for Hope Raney. Beyond her impressive versatility as an artist, we admire the unapologetic nature of her lyrics and her readiness to take on competition – there’s a special allure to a competitive artist. If you haven’t delved into Hope’s catalog yet, it’s unfortunate because many others have. Her music has graced television shows, movies, and more. Some of Hope’s notable singles include “Pop Pop Pop” and “UN-TIED.” Her latest release is the single “Not The One.”

In “Not The One,” Hope Raney unequivocally states that to earn her favor, one must approach with respect and correctness. She underscores her preference for maintaining control, suggesting that those willing to take on a supportive role, such as being her “water boy,” might find compatibility in a relationship with her.

Hope Raney demonstrates her versatility prominently in “Not the One.” Throughout about 90% of the song, she delivers a blend of smooth and spicy vocals that harmonize seamlessly with her infectious melodies and unapologetic lyrics. In the remaining 10%, Raney showcases her rap skills with a hard-hitting verse featuring fast-paced flows and hella confident lyrics. The combination results in a banger that sounds like some s**t that two people made.

It’s dope as hell that Hope Raney is capable of making a club banger like “Pop Pop Pop” and an R&B banger like “Not The One.”
