Beyoncé Goes The Country Route In “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” & “16 CARRIAGES”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Beyoncé is one of the few artists who effortlessly transitions across genres, having explored R&B, hip-hop, Afropop, and EDM throughout her career. In her latest singles, “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM” and “16 CARRIAGES,” Beyoncé ventures into the realm of country music, showcasing her versatility once again.

In “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” Beyoncé encourages listeners to set aside their worries and hit the dance floor for some square dancing with friends who bring joy. While she advocates for letting loose and indulging in drinks, I think I’m done doing that after last night (I drank a shot for every pass Brock Purdy missed). The song’s energetic country vibe may not appeal to everyone, particularly those who live in the bando, but its foot-stomping rhythm, catchy chorus, and infectious melodies make it an undeniable banger.

Compared to “TEXAS HOLD ‘EM,” “16 CARRIAGES” carries a slightly more generic vibe. In this song, driven by gentle, acoustic-like production, Beyoncé delivers her most passionate and dramatic vocals yet, delving into the arduous journey she endured to seek solace. This track seems poised to deeply resonate with listeners.

I think Beyoncé’s voice is perfect for country music.
