Yeat & Drake Reunite For “As We Speak”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

This might be surprising, given I am far from a Yeat apologist, but I appreciate his latest album, 2093. As expected, it has some futuristic sounds that I enjoy and what I would describe as excellent energy. I also feel like Yeat’s sound has matured and found a more mainstream appeal. Today, the Portland rapper dropped a fresh track titled “As We Speak,” featuring Drake. It falls directly in line with the s**t you hear in 2093.

Though Yeat and Drake aren’t in the same tax bracket, when you make a certain amount of money, the s**t talk sounds the same. That said, in “As We Speak,” the duo talks about spoiling chicks, making ten million in their sleep, and only visiting exquisite locations.

The intriguing aspect of this song lies in its sound. Similar to many tracks featured in 2093, “As We Speak” is driven by a futuristic beat that begins but seems to hover. Above it, both Drake and Yeat deliver slow-burning, impactful raps, undoubtedly aimed at leaving a lasting impression on their haters. Overall, their chemistry is nothing short of phenomenal.

A Yeat and Drake joint album? B*tch, I’ll pay for it!
