Smino has gradually climbed up the ranks to become one of my favorite rappers. I became hooked on his music after giving his Luv 4 Rent album from 2022 a spin. Since then, Smino has dropped occasional releases, many being random tracks over familiar beats. However, today, the St. Louis rapper returned to the scene with a fresh original single titled “mister misfit but ain’t missed a fit in months.”

Based on the unique title of this song, you should already know what it’s about, but for those who are slow like me, I’ll explain a little further. In “mister misfit but ain’t missed a fit in months,” Smino references his smooth fashion sense and luxurious items, his mental health and self-awareness, and his personal relationships and boundaries. He also drops some bars about the importance of loyalty and brings up some of his sexual encounters.

Smino uses so many styles in this song that you might think this was a posse cut. From intricate tongue-twisting flows to catchy melodic raps and high-energy deliveries, he effortlessly navigates the booming, soulful beat. Smino’s ability to seamlessly switch between styles solidifies his status as a true ninja.

Please tell me that Smino is dropping an album this year.
