MT Tha Don Serenades His Chick With “On Ya Mind?”

Rating: 4.5 out of 5.

Even as cuffing season winds down, there’s always time to show appreciation for your partner. MT Tha Don’s latest single, “On Ya Mind?,” does just that.

Do you know what no one ever brings up? Some of the greatest hip-hop songs of all time are love songs, and “On Ya Mind” is no exception. MT Tha Don pours out his heart in this track, showering his girl with praise, envisioning a future with her, and promising to stand by her side. While he paints a picture of her being his main squeeze, he also hints that she might have someone else vying for her attention, someone he wants her to ignore (Pass me the tea!).

I’ve said it before, and I’ll say it again: I’m a sucker for hip-hop tracks that stick to traditional rap styles and deliver clear-cut hooks, and “On Ya Mind?” delivers just that. Plus, I’m vibing with the Cali-inspired, hard-hitting beat that’s sprinkled with gentle vibes, and MT Tha Don’s refusal to hold back—he hits us with his signature grungy deliveries.

I’ma keep this track in my pocket for them chill summer nights.
