SkyDxddy Asks “Why Do I Stay”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

I wish I had SkyDxddy’s music during my teenage years. As a pop star and truth poet, she fearlessly pours her heart into her songs, creating a connection with listeners who relate to the ups and downs of life. Tracks like “Triggered,” “Pretty Distraction,” and “DON’T TALK ABOUT IT” have struck a chord with many, reflecting the shared experiences of struggle and resilience. In her latest single “Why Do I Stay,” a collaboration with Canadian EDM producer Alex Kade, SkyDxddy continues to explore themes of love, self-reflection, and the challenges of relationships.

In “Why Do I Stay?,” SkyDxddy grapples with the complexity of staying with someone despite their flaws. What makes matters even worse is that she blames herself for repeatedly returning to them and absorbing the consequences of their actions. The song captures the intricate and often painful dynamics of love and attachment.

To complement SkyDxddy’s powerful lyrics, there’s an electrifying backdrop. The song features a hard-hitting, explosive alt/emo-pop instrumental, courtesy of Alex Kade, that penetrates through the soul. SkyDxddy navigates this instrumental with vocals that alternate between subdued and piercing. Overall, “Why Do I Stay?” is a potent pop hit that might hit too close to home…
