3. Crazy For You

iann dior thinks poison isn’t bad if you add a little water to it.

Ever felt the pull of something you know isn’t good for you? We’ve all been there (billions have indulged in McDonald’s, after all). That’s the essence of “Crazy For You.” iann dior lays it bare in the song, expressing his willingness to endure his ex’s drama just for a taste of her lips. While not exactly gloomy, the track isn’t bursting with vibrancy either. It’s more accurately described as impactful, relatable, and undeniably catchy.

2. I Think You Should Go

This song is for those who are here because of “mood.”

“I Think You Should Go” is easily this album’s most vibrant, energetic track. This is despite iann dior’s content revolving around him wanting this chick he’s dealing with to skidaddle from his life. When all is said and done, I think iann does what he does best in this track: He comes across as edgy, a little on the gentle side, and ready to flood us with great alternative pop melodies.

1. House On Fire

Your favorite artist’s favorite artist isn’t making songs like this.

“House On Fire” is a compelling opening to the album. The track features a dramatic beat that escalates in intensity, providing a powerful backdrop for iann’s dynamic vocal performance. His lyrics explore themes of relationship exhaustion, depicting a cycle of emotional turmoil and uncertainty where he feels constantly on edge and perplexed by his partner’s actions. This combination results in one of iann’s most impressive releases to date.

OVERALL RATING

(C+)

You might not be aware, but The Kid LAROI is one of my favorite artists right now. Interestingly, iann dior’s sound is quite similar to LAROI’s. Or perhaps it’s the other way around… Hmm. One of the striking similarities between The Kid LAROI and iann dior is their penchant for delving into tumultuous relationships in their music. Both artists also create alternative pop music with subtle elements of hip-hop. In iann dior’s latest EP, BLIND, he sticks to this formula without deviation.

Throughout BLIND, listeners are treated to emotional vocal performances layered over production leaning towards the emo-pop side. Also, iann never deviates from talking about this relationship that he’s in that seems as wishy-washy as the Washington Wizards. While I would put this project in the category of “I’m not trying to hear this dude cry for six tracks,” I do think you get moments in it where iann showcases his impressive vocal range and ability to craft multi-layered tracks with literally undeniable melodies.
