STEPH Gets Steamy In “Like Water”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Swedish singer and songwriter Steph perfectly captures the vibes of early ’90s and ’2000s R&B that’s heard in her songs “Underneath The Sun,” “Lifetime,” and “Missed Call.” Though it’s her signature sound, her latest single, “Like Water,” is seasoned with more soul as she slows down to take her time loving her partner.

“Like Water” skillfully builds up and then releases the much-needed sexual tension characteristic of R&B music. The single delves into intimacy’s profound awakening, going beyond mere physical gratification. The track’s production features a smooth mid-tempo rhythmic beat and a funky bassline that sets the perfect mood, especially for a night of intimate connection. Steph’s airy vocals exude love and longing, embodying the romantic yearning for tenderness and the embrace of profound love through physical touch. Listening to “Like Water” by Steph feels like being immersed in a captivating fantasy, reluctant to return to reality.
