Alan Ward “Barely” Sounds Normal

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Rapping-wise, Alan Ward shares similarities with Tyler, The Creator, as they both venture into unconventional production and rap styles. Yet, they deliver with flows and deliveries that demand attention due to their undeniable quality. Additionally, Alan exudes a laid-back coolness that adds to his appeal. Notable tracks like “Picasso” and “Vent” have garnered attention for him, and his latest single, “Barely,” continues to showcase his talent and unique style.

Hip-hop enthusiasts, I urge you to immerse yourselves completely in “Barely.” Set against a gritty yet cunning backdrop that even the Blair Witch might groove to if she hailed from an urban neighborhood, Alan Ward showcases his rap mastery with finesse. He dazzles us with elusive flows, along with impeccable wordplay and razor-sharp punchlines. Lyrically, he lays bare his competitive spirit, his fluctuating emotions, and his appreciation for life’s simple pleasures. The crazy thing is that this song’s muddy audio quality actually makes it sound better to me.
