RIZ & Nrique Join Forces For “MTL State Of Mind”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Montreal, stand up!

What’s in the water in Canada? It seems like a new artist pops up every two weeks in that country. While many hail from Toronto, the Montreal music scene is just as vibrant. In “MTL State Of Mind,” RIZ and Nrique pay homage to this amazing city.

In “MTL State Of Mind,” RIZ and Nrique keep it smooth while navigating a relationship as unpredictable as Jayson Tatum’s game. RIZ’s main qualm is that the woman he’s dealing with tends to run back to her ex whenever things get rocky. RIZ also reminds her and the world that karma always balances things out, so it’s essential to stay on your best behavior.

The first thing that will catch your attention about this track is the production. It’s smooth as hell, boasting vibes that will dissipate heartburn symptoms. As for RIZ, he really goes through the motions in the track, sounding everything from perturbed to vulnerable. Nrique closes the track with a sly rap verse that ends things with a bang.
