More Song Ratings: Sheck Wes, Common & BabyTron

Ratings for “BEAST,” “#TRON4PREZ,” “All Kinds Of Ideas,” and more.

Sheck Wes – BEAST

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Sheck Wes is a monster at creating tracks that get you hyped up. That said, “BEAST” is a trippy banger that has a simple but catchy hook, explosive rap verses, absolutely meaningless lyrics, and a beat that might f**k around and give you a seizure. Every once in a while, you have to spoil your ears with a cheat day, right?

Common & Pete Rock – All Kinds Of Ideas

Rating: 5 out of 5.

When was the last time you heard Pete Rock rap? 1997? In “All Kinds Of Ideas,” he gets behind the mic and holds his own against Common.

Over this old-school hip-hop beat with some amazing DJ scratches, Pete Rock hits us with flawless bars that prove he still believes he’s that n***a behind the mic and outside of the booth. As for Common, he shines by delivering this highly efficient rap verse that has him sounding like a competitive rapper who can also whip your ass when it comes to dishing out history lessons. All in all, this track is amazing.

BabyTron. – #TRON4PREZ

Rating: 2 out of 5.

At this point, BabyTron would be the best presidential candidate out there. Anywho, I think “#TRON4PREZ” is an awful track, but one that falls in line with the type of music he’s been making for years now. In it, you get punchlines that straddle the line between clever and cheesy, a beat that straddles the line between sounding like some exercise and ’80s cocaine s**t, and a rap style that straddles the line between cold and comical. I don’t think I want to hear this s**t again.

BLK ODYSSY & Joey Bada$$ – STANK ROSE

Rating: 4 out of 5.

They don’t make R&B/hip-hop fusions like “STANK ROSE” anymore. The track features smooth vocals, a very slick rap verse by Joey Bada$$, and a nice beat that merges hard-hitting hip-hop elements with dreamy R&B elements. I do wish the words on the hook were delivered a little clearer, but overall, the vibes of this track are impeccable.
