Devon Cole Wants A “Good Guy”

Rating: 5 out of 5.

Well, sort of…

Devon Cole is my kind of artist. The Calgary native (who is now based in Los Angeles) is a helluva singer, but at the same time, is all about keeping it real lyrically. Others love her, too. Her “W.I.T.C.H.” single has over 118 million streams, and her other singles, such as “Hey Cowboy” and “Call U After Rehab,” have also gained traction.

Devon Cole’s latest single is “Good Guy.” I think it showcases her signing skills, honesty, and ‘it’ factor.

You know what they say, right? We never want what’s good for us; we usually gravitate to the things that are bad for us. I feel this way every time I stand in line at a greasy pizza parlor. Anywho, in “Good Guy,” Devon Cole equates this theory to her choice in men. She sings about gravitating toward men who aren’t necessarily good for her and wonders why that’s the case.

I absolutely love this song’s easygoing tempo, funky guitar play, and overall quirky vibes. As for Devon, I appreciate the way she alternates between a subdued/borderline irritated, passionate, and shimmering sound, almost giving the impression that she’s dreaming and agonizing about a bad guy right now.
