Just when we needed weird most!

For many music artists, being parodied by Weird Al is a badge of honor, signifying that you’ve truly made it. Lady Gaga is quoted as saying that having a Weird Al parody is empowering and a “rite of passage.” He’s been doing song parodies and polka medleys for over 40 years and is the master of his craft.

Weird Al’s last and final album, Mandatory Fun, was released 10 years ago today. Yankovic chose to celebrate by releasing a new polka medley, catching up on the last decade of music that he missed. The medley includes hits from Adele, Ariana Grande, Billie Eilish, Taylor Swift, and more, such as Encanto’s “We Don’t Talk About Bruno,” Luis Fonsi’s “Despacito,” and even Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion’s “WAP.”

The music video is delightfully lovely, featuring a host of guest animators, including Hazbin Hotel creator Vivienne Medrano, Ryan Krzak (known for creating numerous popular fan-made Weird Al music videos), Bill Plympton, Jack Evans, and many more. The animators skillfully brought the medley to life, resulting in an amazing video that evokes nostalgia for Al’s older work.
