Rating: 4 out of 5.A woman who gets high is hot, right?
When I get tired of trap music, Jersey club music, or Yeat’s music, I play some R&B. It soothes my ears and relieves my heartburn symptoms. While there are a lot of R&B artists to choose from these days, one of my favorite has always been Jorja Smith.
What I love about Jorja Smith is that her content is actually pretty traditional (Which is actually rare these days). She talks about love in ways that are normal and doesn’t really dabble in the s**t other artists dabble in these days.
Recently, Jorja Smith was featured on a song with Childish Gambino from his Bando Stone & The New World album, “In The Night.”
I’ve had my lows
You weren’t always there for me
But time has shown
That I can love mys?lf again
I always need my friends
But I need to find one in myself (Mys?lf, myself)Jorja Smith in “High”
More Heat: Jorja Smith – Be Right Back (Album Review)
In “High,” Jorja Smith reflects on putting herself first, even if it meant not being present for a past relationship when that person needed her. It’s a reminder that sometimes prioritizing your own well-being is crucial. Personally, I’ve been saying for years that as long as you have money and food, you don’t necessarily need a partner.
I absolutely love it when Jorja Smith creates chicy music, and that’s exactly what “High” is. The track is powered by a dance-ready, uptempo instrumental that you might hear at a hippie bar that serves Zima. Over it, Jorja Smith delivers an absolutely gorgeous vocal performance that will remind you she can move mountains when she wants to with her voice. All in all, this track has the feel-good vibes and words everyone can use.
