DDG Shows Out In “copy my drip”

Rating: 2.5 out of 5.

Cash Cobain helped produce this track (Not YouTube).

DDG and Cash Cobain are leaders of the new school. One became famous off YouTube and is now trying his hand at rapping, while the other gained recognition for making beats and is now exploring rapping and singing as well. While I wouldn’t call either of them standout artists, they do just enough to get their fans excited.

In 2024, DDG has released several singles, including “Going To The Top,” “Shoot Up Your Block,” and “she ain’t leaving.” As for Cash Cobain, aside from his production credits, he has released tracks like “Dunk Contest,” “Fisherrr,” “Daylight,” “Grippy” (featuring J. Cole), and “Rump Punch.” Today, the artists have combined their talents to create a new collaboration single called “copy my drip.”

Gotta keep it safe, I done locked up all my guns (Uh-huh)
We countin’ bread and these n****s countin’ crumbs (Uh-huh)
I want some head ‘fore I get up in them buns
N***a, that’s mandatory, I pulled up in a Maybach, mm

DDG in “copy my drip”

In “copy my drip,” DDG mentions a bunch of random s**t, including hiding his guns now that he has a son, engaging with women who aren’t his, and wearing expensive clothes without logos. He also refers to Halle as his partner in crime, suggesting he’ll marry her when the time is right.

The beat Cash Cobain created for “copy my drip” has a strong “Big Steppers” vibe, featuring a twangy, western-like sound. I appreciate how DDG rides the beat and think his primary melody is solid. However, I wish his lyrics were more meaningful, and he introduced at least one more flow to keep things interesting. Oh well.
