Local loverboi Has “Trust Issues”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

We all have trust issues, right?

You’ll fall in love with Local loverboi’s music pretty quickly. This singer/rapper, based in South Florida but originally from Manhattan, New York, excels at hopping from genre to genre while fearlessly showcasing his feelings through his lyrics.

Though Local loverboi’s solo catalog is relatively short, featuring tracks like “Lisa (With You)” and “Far Away,” he collaborated with several artists to create the impressive Christmas album Hood Christmas Carols in 2022. Recently, LL returned to the music scene with a new single called “Trust Issues.”

In “Trust Issues,” Local loverboi switches between sounding ready for love and scared of it. For every bar he dedicates to missing his woman or getting intimate, he has another bar expressing his paranoia about getting his heart broken or dealing with someone who has issues. The track is driven by a sly beat that I could see DJ Mustard giving to Roddy Ricch, and LL delivers melodic raps that effectively convey his mix of exuberance and despair. Overall, I think he dropped a banger that perfectly describes being young with trust issues.
