3. Broke Boys

Broke boys in 2024 are getting slayed online.

Tinashe’s playful and quirky style shines through in “Broke Boy,” where she fully embraces a carefree, single lifestyle while playfully seeking someone with a little cash in their bank account. The track features a cheeky chorus, a charming pre-chorus, and fun elements that evoke a nostalgic ’90s vibe. Tinashe’s lighthearted approach works perfectly here overall.

2. Getting No Sleep

Oh, Tinashe definitely popped a perc before making this track.

I like “Getting No Sleep” more than “Nasty.” The quirky track features a catchy hook, a good combination of chill and passionate vocals, and this frantic, computers ‘putin’ instrumental that I love. Lyrically, Tinashe talks about enjoying a crazy night out after working her ass off in her 9-to-5. I feel that s**t.

1. Nasty

There are 193 remixes to “Nasty.”

If you called this track spicy, I would be okay with that, too. In “Nasty,” Tinashe wonders if anyone out there can match her bedroom prowess. If there is, there’s a good chance she will end up being hooked to them. Somehow, I feel like this is a shot at Ben Simmons.

One of my favorite things about “Nasty” is how Tinashe blends edgy and passionate vocals in the track, creating a concoction that is both tangy and sweet. I also like how she calls herself nasty but doesn’t go overboard like, say, Sexyy Red would. All in all, this is a fun track to listen to.

 OVERALL RATING

I feel like I didn’t listen to anything.

Tinashe has definitely evolved over the years. When she first hit the scene, she was known for R&B club bangers like “2 On.” However, she soon started experimenting with various pop styles, which may have led to her getting a bit lost in the mix. After dropping “Nasty,” Tinashe regained some momentum, and her latest album seems to build on the vibe of that track.

Quantum Baby showcases some impressive vocal performances, with Tinashe really showing off her range. The album also features a few catchy choruses and futuristic elements, making it a distinct body of work. I also appreciate how Tinashe embraces the single lifestyle, which is something we all might want to channel from time to time. Overall, I can see these tracks fitting in perfectly at quirky lounges to chill house parties.

Quantum Baby is just a little boring. I just feel there are too many dull moments. Tracks like “Nasty,” “Getting No Sleep,” and “Broke Boys” inject some much-needed energy into the project.

Tinashe probably should’ve just filled this track with “Nasty” remixes.
