Jaylen Brown & A$AP Ferg Connect For “Just Do It”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

When you win a chip, you can do whatever the hell you want.

Jaylen Brown is having the summer of his life. Coming off a championship win, the Boston Celtics forward has been seen living life to the fullest with a new bad chick, a nice contract, and a few trophies. Though he says it’s time to lock in now that the season is approaching quickly, Brown did get one of his bucket list items out of the way.

Today, randomly, a track with Jaylen Brown spitting bars alongside A$AP Ferg hit streaming services. It’s called “Just Do It.”

The very first thing that caught my attention about “Just Do It” is the title. That’s clearly a nod to Nike, who Jaylen Brown has had beef with over Kyrie Irving’s situation and being snubbed from the Olympics. The second thing that caught my attention is how much Jaylen Brown, who’s from Georgia but went to school in the Bay Area, sounds like Larry June in this track. The third thing that caught my attention was how Jaylen talked about “touching his girl without touching her” (A shot at Kysre Gondrezick‘s ex, Kevin Porter Jr.). The fourth thing that caught my attention was the pretty clever punchlines he delivered. One thing that confused me was how some of the song was bleeped out while others weren’t.

Ferg closes out “Just Do It” with a sly verse that is not so sly given that his inside voice is loud as hell. When it’s all said and done, I do rock with how his style and Brown’s style fit over the hella smooth production.

Guys, Jaylen Brown kind of killed this s**t (I wish he would sound a little more excited to be there, though).
