Taylor is still shaken by the events but stayed strong for her fans!
After three Taylor Swift concerts in Vienna were canceled due to an attempted terrorist attack, the pop star had not publicly commented on the situation, continuing with her European tour. While many fans understood the circumstances, some expressed frustration over Swift’s lack of acknowledgment, particularly regarding nonrefundable costs related to the canceled shows. One fan on X (formerly Twitter) criticized the handling of refunds, saying, “I finally got my refund from oeticket for Vienna, but they kept about $8 per ticket. This is absolutely ridiculous. I bought tickets firsthand and was not provided a service. As if we haven’t been through enough.” Another fan voiced disappointment over Swift’s silence, stating, “Taylor doesn’t understand that her silence is disappointing for us who missed the Vienna shows; it was our only word of hope. If she had only posted a heart, we would be satisfied. This is disrespectful.”
Taylor Swift has now addressed the situation in an emotional Instagram post. She wrote, “Having our Vienna shows canceled was devastating. The reason for the cancellations filled me with a new sense of fear and a tremendous amount of guilt because so many people had planned on coming to those shows. But I was also so grateful to the authorities because, thanks to them, we were grieving concerts and not lives.”
She explained her previous silence by stating, “In cases like this one, ‘silence’ is actually showing restraint and waiting to express yourself at a time when it’s right to. My priority was finishing our European tour safely, and it is with great relief that I can say we did that. And then London felt like a beautiful dream sequence. All five crowds at Wembley Stadium were bursting with passion, joy, and exuberance. The energy in that stadium was like the most giant bear hug from 92,000 people each night, and it brought me back to a place of carefree calm up there.”
Most fans showed understanding and sympathy towards Taylor Swift’s response. One fan commented, “Taylor’s post about the end of eras and her silence regarding Vienna makes my heart hurt because how could anyone think she simply didn’t care enough to comment?” Another fan added, “I think what she said here is enough, and none of you should beg her to say more about it.”
