Big O & CHG Are Unstoppable In “I Belong Here” EP

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Big O continues to lace us with quality production.

Big O f**ks with us, and we f**k with him. Over the years, this UK-based, American-born producer has crafted high-quality soundscapes, blending old-school hip-hop vibes with atmospheric and soulful elements. O’s work with talented rappers has resulted in beats perfect for laying down some serious bars.

So far in 2024, Big O has delivered several notable projects, including the High Creative State EP with Tranzformer and his solo album Ocean Waves. Last Friday, he returned to the music scene with a new, concise EP titled I Belong Here.

“The Way It Seems” opens the project with its glimmering elements, soulful vibe, and feel-good energy. The track features a steady tempo and vintage-sounding drums, creating an ethereal atmosphere that envelops you. It’s the perfect soundtrack for a sunny fall day, ideal for a stroll through Washington Square Park in New York or Lincoln Park in Chicago.

Interestingly, “Fall ’87” evokes a rainy day ambiance. Despite its steady tempo and boom-bap drum pattern, the track is enriched with melancholic strings and flute melodies. It feels perfect when you’re answering text messages while watching the rain cascade down your window sill.

Closing out the project is “He’s Only Just Begun,” an instrumental track with an overwhelming allure that fully captures your attention. Whether it’s the prominent bassline, the powerful drums, or the subtle lush guitar plucks, the composition evokes the ambiance of a refined dinner at an upscale restaurant with someone you hold in high regard.

Every track on this EP is guaranteed to set the mood for you and your partner. Don’t just take my word for it—give it a listen the next time you’re together and see for yourself.
