Tory Lanez Releases “Look No Further” & “Time”

Rating: 4 out of 5.

Welp, it looks like Tory’s prison releases are ending.

Tory Lanez has had an impressive summer despite being in jail for the past few months. Remarkably, he managed to produce high-quality tracks using some sort of recording equipment. A few days ago, it was reported that his equipment had been confiscated, so we might not see new releases from him for a while. However, not this week—today, he dropped two new singles: “Time” and “Look No Further.”

It’s pretty unbelievable that “Time” was created in 2016 because it has such a 2020s vibe. The track features a dramatic R&B beat that I can definitely see people vibing with today. Over it, Tory Lanez delivers some of his most infectious vocals as he sings about falling in love with someone who’s never satisfied and constantly changes. He also touches on the ups and downs of their relationship, making the track feel both relatable and enjoyably dramatic.

“Look No Further” is the one for me. I love the celebratory, “Step on up to the Price is Right”-esque beat. Over it, Tory Lanez rides a fine line between edgy rap and infectious R&B, making the track a fun listen. Lyrically, Tory presents himself as a guy who knows all the answers when it comes to women—unlike Sway—sharing his mindset on how to get them hooked and showing them things they’ve probably never experienced before. Like “Time,” I’m pretty surprised this track was made in 2016.

Let’s hope Tory Lanez has some more unreleased tracks tucked away.
