Rod Wave Releases “Passport Junkie”

Rating: 3.5 out of 5.

Rod Wave has started the rollout for his highly-anticipated sixth album.

Here’s something a lot of people might not realize: Rod Wave is a major force in the music industry. His album sales are huge, his streaming numbers are consistently high, and other artists frequently mention him in their work. If you weren’t aware of his influence before, it’s clear now. Rod’s upcoming album, which hasn’t had its name confirmed yet, is expected to feature big collaborations with Lil Baby, Drake, Lil Yachty, and more. To build excitement, he just released the first single, “Passport Junkie.”

“Passport Junkie” is clearly about a love for travel, but Rod Wave puts his signature emotional twist on it. The song revolves around a relationship with a woman who’s into the high life—traveling, partying, and spending money. As expected, Rod layers the track with a sense of melancholy, highlighting the instability of the relationship. While his delivery starts off calm and laid-back, he brings out his powerful vocals toward the end, adding an emotional punch that contrasts with the smooth, trap-inspired production.

Rod Wave really be fooling y’all; he is living a pretty good life. He just has to make struggle music to make sure he continues to have a good life.
